real estate tax

What is the name of your state? il

i just found out i have not been getting my owner occupied exemption on my property taxes sinc i bought my house in may '99. the supv. of assessments informed me i can not get a refund on my past over payments. is this true and is there anything i can do? thanks

It depends. Did you properly notify the county of the change in status & they just screwed up? Or did you just assume the county would figure it out? And why did it take you so long to notice you weren't getting this discount?
