What is the name of your state? Maryland

I sold my old house and purchased a new one in July, 2004.

My new mortgage company has not paid any real estate taxes for 2004. On my settlement sheet for the purchase of the new house, I see an amount for County Tax on the borrower (my) side of the settlement sheet.

I called my title company and verified that they have paid that amount to the county.

Can I deduct that amount of real property tax paid by the title company on my income tax or should I calculate the prorated amount from the settlement date until end of the year based on the total tax due for the new house for 2004?

Thanks.
