recently married wife got 2 W2's for one job??What is the name of your state? Tennessee Me and my wife got married in october and she had to do the last name change. Her work gave her 2 W2's both with differnt amounts on them. One says wages are 801.16 with no income tax withheld the other says wages are 5481.11 with 304.50 income tax withheld Should I just add these 2 together or should I file them seperatly? also When I do the esimated income tax refund it shows me reciving about $1400 before I put my wifes income in. Once I put hers in it drops it down to about $900. Why is that? |

Also, if she underwithheld, she owes taxes, so those taxes come out from the jt return.

| she didnt underwith hold. I also put just her income in to get an estimate and she was going to get around $200 back. So I should just add both her W2's instead of filling out 2 seperate ones. (im using turbo tax) Last edited by jbanderson; 02-03-2008 at 03:38 PM. |

| The incomes stack, so that the more you make jointly, the more you pay in taxes. As for the multiple w2's, did the company change hands over the past year. Do the EIN numbers differ on the two different w-2's. If not, I would talk with the employer because it may cause problems with SS. You may want to check out the withholding calculator to set both your w-4's correctly due to your recent nuptuals. http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96196,00.html

| The employee ID number isn't significant, its the EMPLOYER id number that is significant.

| Your question is how to enter them in Turbotax. It won't matter which way you enter them...Turbotax will add them together. I would enter them separately.
