Restitution

What is the name of your state? NY

My friend would like to know if his restitution payments are tax deductible?

Probably not.

The tax code prohibits any kind of tax benefit from the consequences of breaking the law.

For example, if you travel for business, you can't deduct the cost of parking tickets.

The same should apply here.
