Question

sales tax owed!


What is the name of your state? Georgia

want to know how long is the statute of limitations on state taxes owed by a corporation. the bussiness closed in 1992 and i was one of hte officers. the bussiness was owned by my mother but they wemt after me. it has been since 1992 and it was 3500, now it is 20000. so i need some help advice? wass my options. now i am unemployed for 8 weeks and i have no money. we do have a house but the title is in my wifes name... i have a checking account with no money in it? any suggestions?

The statute of limitation refers to assessment of taxes, not collection. If they assessed the tax against you within the period of limitations, then they have forever to collect it.

I suggest you keep the house in your wife's name, and try and work out a compromise with the Revenue Department. You could also consider bankruptcy.

i did not get your awnser about the assessment? anyhow, i was told you cannot bankrupt out of this sales taxes? is that true?
