Is school tuition tax deductible

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL

Background:
My company puts my childrens tuition fees straight into my paycheck. The amount credited on the paycheck is deducted on that same paycheck.

I am a employed overseas in a tax exempt status by a US based company. My two kids are in the 1st grade and 3rd grades respectively attending DoDDs (Dept of Def Dependent Schools).

Most companies do not even bother with depositing into anyone check, as they pay DoDDs directly. So.. now that tax time is here I realized that the amount earned this year with the tuition added to my paycheck is quite substantial.

Can you please let me know if the tuition fees are deductible, how they are classified and how can we deduct them?

FYI - DoDDs tutition fees are about 14K a year kid/per yr.

Thanks for any help with this. oh.. and if there is anyway that you could point me to a tax regulation that supports this information I would greatly appreciate it. Seems that info for foreign earned income is very sparse.

Thanks again.

I am not aware of any situation where school fees are deductible. Only the first approx. 83k of your foreign earned income is excludable from tax. Any income above that level will be taxable. Therefore it may be a mistake to declare yourself tax exempt.
