Social Security benefits and taxSouth Carolina Are Social Security benefits paid to a minor dependent child taxable as the parent's (my) income? In other words, do I have to claim my child's social security benefits received as income on my tax return? Benefit received were $6,213.00. |

| No, the SS payments are reported under the child's name & SSN & are not income to you. However, they may affect whether you paid over 1/2 the child's support, if that matters.
