I worked for four or five months in 2009 as a sub-contractor for a electronics firm in NC. During that time I made about $4000.

I am now finding it difficult to find full time or part time work. It is a stretch to pay the rent and I've resorted to dumpster diving for food.

How do I learn of my tax liability to SC and defer payment until I can actually have part time or full time work?

The best way to find out about your liability is to do the actual returns to see where you stand.
