State Tax and Federal Tax in the state of GeorgiaWhat is the name of your state?What is the name of your state? Georgia Hi I had a question regarding federal and state taxes. If person living in Atlanta GA and on H1B working visa is earning $ 38,000 annual. What percentage is deducted for State and Federal Tax on a monthly basis. In other words what i wud like to know is that what is his monthly tax deductions. I would really appreciate you help in this regard. Best Regards Adnan |

| His per-paycheck tax deductions are the same as for a US citizen. The exact amount depends on how much gross pay he had, how often he's paid, & how he filled out his form W-9 when hired. The biggest variable is the form W-9 -- the more exemptions you claim, the less income taxes are withheld from your check. If your withholding is too low, you write a check to the US Treasury in April. If your withholding was too high, you get a refund 2-6 weeks after filing your tax return. If 2004 was the first year you lived in the US, I suggest you find a tax pro with international experience, as you will probably have to file a dual status return (unless you're married and make certain elections).
