| I am from Texas, and have two girls in school, elementary and high school. We used to be able to fill out a work sheet to gain an extra decuction, is that deduction still allowed? I am using form 1040A and in the book there is a work sheet titled, "CHILD TAX CREDIT WORKSHEET-LINE 30". IS this the one we would use for that deduction? |

Credits for childrenI am not sure what deduction you are referring to, but the answer to your question is that you should use the Child tax Credit Worksheet. You might qualify for the credit it provides, depending on your income. Depending on your income, you might also qualify for the earned income credit. See line 38a of Form 1040A and page 40 of the Instructions to Form 1040A. One of the above is probably what you are thinking of. |
