Tax Audit QuestionsWhat is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Texas Hello. I am being audited from the tax year of 2002. The IRS is claiming that I had $27,500 in Nonemployee Compensation. Actually, I only have $13,750 in Nonemployee Compensation that I actually owe. The company that I provided work for operated under two names and for some reason they filed me under both companies. I have the W2 from one of the compnaies stating that I earned $13,750 and received nothing from the other company. The company has since gone out of business. I do owe back taxes and am willing to pay them, but I only owe half the amount that the IRS claims. What should I do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Craig |

| Tell the auditor just what you told us. They won't kill you, hurt you, or put you in jail. |

| Take along copies of your bank statements to show that your deposits from both companies total only $13k.

| Thanks for the replies thus far! Should I hire an accountant and have them coach me on what to do with the IRS or should I just call them without having an accountant? Thanks for taking the time to answer my basic questions.. |
