Tax conflicts? Education creditsWhat is the name of your state? California I know that I can take a tax credit on education expenses through the "Lifetime Learning" credit. My question is, is it lawful to take a tax credit on education expenses even if I receive tuition assistance through my employer? I keep hearing people tell me to take both because they're there to take, but I want to make sure they're on the up and up. |

| If you're receiving tax-free employer tuition assistance, then you CANNOT take a Lifetime Learning Credit. |
