The IRS has put a levy on my hubby's SS check. How does he get rid of it? Our income is $12,000 a year below poverty level. Can the IRS legally do this?
If not, what do we do now?

You had to ignore the IRS for a pretty long time to get them to do that. So how about you give us the details of your situation. And yes, since they did that, they apparently CAN do that.
