Are you claiming him as a dependent? If so, he won't get the education deduction/credit, you will. Employee expenses cannot be deducted unless you itemize, and obviously he can't do that.
Your son's standard deduction is 5350.00 Therefore his taxable income would be 2144.00.
His tax on that would be 10% or 214.40. If he had more withheld than that, the difference would be his refund, if he had less than that withheld, the difference will be what he owes.
If he is not your dependent, the education deduction/credit will be of no value to him, because his wages are less than the sum of his standard deduction and his personal exemption, in which case he will get a refund of his full federal withholding.
However, he may owe some state tax.
