What is the name of your state? wisconsin.my employer withheld federal and state taxes at married with two excemptions but my filled out w4 form is for single and one excemption and now i'm 1,200 behind in withholding is there any recourse against my employer

Probably not. Your employer will wonder why you didn't notice that your withholding was so small.

This of course assumes you have some proof of what you requested on the W-4.

There's no recourse because there's no damage. You can pay the $1200 during the year or in April. Either way, you pay $1200. In fact, you've gotten the government to give you an interest-free loan of $1200. Start saving now & just pay in April.
