Topic is taxation spanning multiple states.

What is the name of your state? oklahoma
I am claiming to be a resident of OK since 10/1/01.
Here are the facts:
I made total nominally $100 federal total wages.
I resided in NJ and make NO income in NJ out of that $100.
I worked in NYC (in NY State) and make $80 out of $100
from NYC between the period of Jan'01 to June'01, viz.,
only for 6 months.
For NYC, $40 out of that $80 was received after June 30, 2001.
I moved to OK on 10/1/01 and made $20.

Questions:
1) for NY State, how would I be taxed?
a) on $80 for 50% of a year? or 100%?
b) on $40 for 50% of a year? or 100%?
2) For NJ, since NJ is my FORMER home residence state,
how will NJ tax me? for part of the year
which is 75% (9months in NJ)?
3) For OK, will OK just tax me on the $20?
Does it matter how long I lived in OK?
4) Are moving expenses of 5$ total deductible on NJ and OK
assuming it is deductible on federal form?

thanks.

Generally, you only pay state income taxes for the period of time you worked and/or resided in the state.

You would be declaring $80 for both NJ and NY and may be entitled to a credit from NJ or NY for tax paid to the other state.

The NY state form includes NYC.

You would be declaring $20 for OK.

Generally, moving expenses claimed on the federal can be claimed on the state you moved into.

The forms and instructions for each state will tell the true tale.
