What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? DE

I'm doing my nephew's taxes. He refinanced last year and paid a 2.25% upfront FHA mortgage insurance premium in addition to monthly FHA mort ins premiums. The upfront charge doesn't show on his 1098. I believe I can deduct a portion of this upfront charge (amortize over life of loan or 84 months, whichever is smaller). Do I need to get a corrected 1098? Thanks.
