What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri
My wife and I purchased two cars in the state of Kansas on May 25th, and agreed to have a warranty added to both vehicles at a cost of $895 each. This was added to the purchase price. After discussing the cost with my wife we decided to cancel this warranty and contacted the dealership on the next business day.We signed paperwork to have these cancelled.
It is now getting close to the date that we have to pay the sales taxes......my question is, should I have to pay sales tax on the 895 x 2 for something we are not even getting?
We have been back to the dealer and they tell us that they can't take it off the paperwork and that we have to pay taxes on it.
We don't feel that it's right paying tax on something we are not buying.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
