I live in CA. The company I work for does not allow their employees to park in the regular lot because they want to save room for the guests. Instead we have to park in a different parking lot on a main street that has no lighting. There have been several break-ins on employee cars and they still maintain that we park there without doing anything about the lighting or securing the place. Some of the employees don't park there anymore, but when the management noticed they put up a sign saying that anyone caught in the main lot will be written up or possibly fired. So I didn't park in the main lot. I have a fairly new car and on Sunday these people tried to steal it. I walked out while they were in the process and they ran off. Is my employer liable for any of the damage? I also will have to get a rental car because it will take a month before I get mine back. Are they responsible for any fees?
