| do verbal agreements count?
I work for a school district in NY. I got hire back in around May of 2003 in my interview I was told that while I was the fifth man on the crew, that I will be subject to working night hours during the active athletic outdoor season. I worked those night hours my first year then the foreman got fired and I became the fourth man and did not have to work those hours again until last fall of 2008 and again now in the sprint of 2009. Do verbal agreements count? can they change my working hours when ever they want to? our civil service contract clearly defines the work week to be M-F and they have switch my hours and work week to be T-S 12pm-8:30pm. Even as we are currently under staff and have agreed with the administration to downsize to 4 crew members .
