Filing a lawsuit against the employerWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California Hi everyone, I am a union member and we just ratified our first contract with our employer. We built the case against our employer long before we even started organizing and we are ready to present our case. Can we still file a lawsuit against the company without the help of the union even when there's a union and a contract in place? I appreciate your response. |

| Of course you can file a lawsuit. Anybody can sue anyone for anything.

lawsuityou have to first, bring any evidence you have that supports your contentions that your employer cheated on bonuses and discriminated against you to your newly acquired Union Representative in the form of a Grievance. The Union has the power to confront the employer and get results rectifying the situation. If necessary, the Union can file suit on the employees behalf. |
