What is the name of your state?What is the name of your state?new york can anyone help me or us we as workers for a big railroad and are covered by brs union five years with out a contract no sick days and now being told we will be paying extra on medical . who do you turn too when your union is not doing there job . can we take a vote and say join another union that is in the same line of work such as mta , long island railroad. what can we do. can anyone help.

Yours would be a herculean task! The Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen (BRS) is covered by the Railway Labor Act (as opposed to the National Labor Relations Act). Therefore, in order to launch a decertification of the BRS as your representative you would have to mount a campaign at every location at which your company employs signalmen throughout the nation. Then, if you manage to decertify the BRS, you would have to go through the whole process again in order to gain representation from another union.
