How to start a union when none existsI was curious if anyone has any information on how to go about starting a union when one doesn't exist to become affiliated with. I would appreciate any and all information related to this. Thanks! |

The easiest/quickest way to unionize your workplace is to call an existing trade union (the Teamsters, the USW, the UAW, etc.) and invite them to your workplace. These unions know all the laws and rules pertaining to union drives and will handle all of this for you. To get a list of unions and contact information, google "unions US." While I certainly don't recommend doing this on your own (you'll need a lot of free time + a lot of money to pay a labor lawyer), if you're dead set on doing this yourself, contact the NLRB for all the laws and regulations pertaining to union drives. And hire a labor lawyer.

PS The NLRB (National Labor Relations Board) will be able to provide you with a list of national trade unions. Google "National Labor Relations Board" to get to the NLRB's website.

My brother in law and his fiance are professional union organizers. He organized a new union from scratch here in Missouri for public service workers (of some sort). It takes alot of work. Talk to the appropriate union for specific assistance.

US Law only. You are required to name your state.
