| Member refuses to leave?? Southern California
Hi,
The issue I am having is; I belong to a rather large union. The City I work for has a local board that has been in place since city hood. Over the years the employees have been represented by different union and associations depending on who wants us. Right now the biggie in service related. And this local board has elections once every two years for the board members.
Because of some bad judgment on the last bargaining contact a movement to decertify from the biggie was tried.
During this time because of the heat in the frying pan, three of the old board members fled and I was asked to fill one set. We had the decertify election and stayed with the big boys and girls and then had the regular two year election for the local board. I was elected by the employees however one person was not and the board president has let the person stay, saying they are certified and we need them. I asked at the last meeting if this was voted on and told no. Since the election we have had two meetings and both times that person has been there.
Can anything be done on this?
Also can the pres. of the board be mandated to allow others on the different employee committees? These are committees dealing with the working conditions at the work place and at the Main Union Hall.
Another thing is that we are allow time off away from the worksite to conduct these meeting and these people drink alcohol at the meetings. Do I inform the members drunks are taking care of them?
Note;
My writing skills suck hopefully you can make heads or tails of this.
Best Regards,
