| renegotiating last contract ??? What is the name of your state? Minnesota
I work for a Fire Dept. A few months ago the union settled with the city on a new contract (not a very good one). Anyway, shortly after agreeing to the small raise, the city decided that we will be performing more medical responsibilities (double to triple the amount of work we do now). We already had it in our contract that we would perform medical assistance as necessary, but isn't it an act of bad faith or something to have this up their sleeve and announce it after we agreed on a contract?
We don't mind helping in an increased capacity, but we didn't get to use this information as a bargaining chip during negotiations. Is there anything we can do? I ask because we have a weak and cheap union.
Also, although we are now receiving our new contract wages, the contract isn't signed (agreed upon, but not signed) because of language and punctuation etc proofreading approval. |
