Should I file a counter grievanceWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maine I have worked for the USPS as a part time flex (PTF) letter carrier for 8 years in a small office here in Maine. When I was the junior PTF I was working only 3 days a week and the senior PTF was working 4 days a week. When I became the senior PTF I got 4 days a week and the new junior PTF got 3 days. This went on for 3 years and than the junior PTF filed a grievance saying that the Postmaster was discriminating because she only got 3 days and I got 4. The Union put the fear of God into the Postmaster and she gave in. The result was I've lost 2 days a month. Can I file a counter grievance on this issue siting that the Postmaster had a past practice of issuing the senior PTF 4 days a week? The Postmaster has on file schedules for the last 5 years. Postmaster didn't want to deal with the union because she was going on vacation and just didn't want the trouble of proving past practice. I can't find anything in the contract about this. |

| Just because something was done in the past does not make it okay to do today. You need to consult with your union steward.
