Union membership

What is the name of your state? Florida

I am a Postal worker. I was once a union member and union steward. I quit the union. I have attempted to rejoin the union but I have been denied membership. The reason, unspoken of course, is that I previosly filed charges that led to a union officer being charged and pleading guilty to embezzlement of union funds. I am not given a reason for the denial. Is this legal?
