Question

Inernet Marriage

What is the name of your state? Connecticut
I have met a gentleman over the internet 2 and half years ago.I'm a widow mid 50's,he is late 50's and divorced for some years. We correspond by mail(occassionally)but mostly by weekly telephone conversations, and instant messenger. In this way we have met each other's family also. For the past year and half we have tried to meet in person, for the purpose of marriage. It is quite impossible and no chance of this happening within the laws of our countries. The gentleman lives in Cuba.If I go to Cuba,I will be going against our law,and upon return,I will be fined, and possible imprisonment. I am a law abiding citizen, and I will never agree to go againt the United States travel embargo.I also totally refuse to live in a communist country. My intended can not leave his country, yes he can try for a visa, but at a high cost to daily living...in other words"they" will fire him from his meager job, assault him and his family...its called"repudiation". Our only last hope is internet marriage,I can visit him once every 3 years legally if we are legally married. But there maybe a better chance and hope he can come back with me to Connecticut eventually. We are not youngsters, but 2 very mature individuals that only want to spend the rest of our lives together in peace. My question therefore is how can we go about an internet marriage legally, because of this grave situation, which is not our fault, but the fault of government not recognizing a basic human right. And that is of 2 people that want to share their lives together.I will appreciate any suggestions. And if anyone knows whom I should contact to direct this question. Thank You kindly,LaYuma

There is no thing as an "internet marriage". A legal marriage requires the presence of both parties except for a few extreme circumstances. This would not qualify. May I suggest turning off the computer and getting out and meeting real people.

Who says you can't go to Cuba on a trip? Talk to your travel agent.

And please let me know how you lawfully consummate in union by way of the internet!
Maybe someday we will be able to share in "beam me up Scottie," but we are not there just yet!
