Theoretical question

I am doing a school project and I need a little help. Say if there was a religion which had around 5 million people in it in America and it had a tax exempt status. If a pentition was made which demanded the removal of its tax exept status, could its tax exempt status be removed if enough people signed it? If so, how many?

We don't do homework problems.

Feel free to read a lot, learn for yourself.

I hope that this website is not the complete scope of your research. Our volunteers are really not into doing homework.

Start by researching who (what department of what agency of what organization) would be granting or revoking tax exempt status. Then find out if they pay attention to membership stats and third party petitions.

**A: what the heck is a pentition?
Only the IRS can change the status.

And, a "petition" has NO force of law.

Then, research judicial review of laws.

In the alternative, research amending the constitution.

OMG Tranquility ~ I loved Schoolhouse Rock when I was a kid. I tolerated Fat Albert just because it would come on in between.

Thank you for the short trip down memory lane!!!
