Really? She could easily have gotten life insurance on him with her as beneficiary. Most smaller policies for people that age only require that you fill in the application and pay the premiums. They don't require medical exams although I am sure his wife could have told him he was getting an exam for any reason. All she had to do was fill out the papers and sign his name to them.
Hell my aunt changed all of her husbands policies when they came due and made her son beneficiary on them all and completely cut his kids out of any of it, signed his name and mailed it back in. He knew nothing of it until he got an
anonymous note telling him about it. He has since had it changed back with his kids as the beneficiaries and even cut her out of his policies to boot.
