| | | Didnt get paid for the past two months What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I Work in Illinois but my employer is based in NJ
Hi,
I am working for a New Jersey based company and I have a contract with my employer. My employer did not pay my wages for the past two months and when I inquired he was saying that he doesn't have funds to pay me. Now I want to change my employer as my current employer is giving me a tough time and I am worried if he will file a Lawsuit against me since I broke the agreement.
I know I can file a claim with DOL to receive my unpaid wages but I am really worried if he files a Lawsuit against me. Please show me some direction.
Thanks |

| | | You will have to show your contract to an Illinois attorney (unless the contract SPECIFICALLY states that it will follow NJ law) to see what, if any, legal action your employer might be able to take against you. |

| | | hi cbg,
Thanks for the advice. But is there any law that makes the contract invalid because the employer failed to pay me even after the agreement says to pay according to "the company's regular pay roll practices"?

| | | If there were such a law, I would have told you in my first post, instead of suggesting that you show the contract to an attorney. | |
