Employer will not pay back wages.

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado. My employer will not pay me my back wages owed. The amount is $10,000. The CO Dept of Labor was unable to help and suggested a lawsuit. Small claim max is $7500 and I want the full amount of money that is owed me plus compensation. (It has been less then a year since he walked off the jobsite) I believe that they have willfully refused to pay and will file for bankruptcy when I file suit. How would I file for more then $15,000?

Lawsuits are not about justice. They are about MONEY. If you don't want money, then you shouldn't be thinking about suing. And people post here because they are thinking about suing. Because they want money, no matter how much they don't want to admit that to themselves.
