What is the name of your state? California

My employer has cut four employee's hours and three of them have been there longer then the other employees that got to keep their hours. Is this legal??? And, if so do they have to have all of this in writting??

Second question, Is it legal for an employer to expect you to stay after your off the clock to finish work since they wont pay you over your hours?

Question 1, yes, it is legal. No law says that employers have to use seniority in determining whose hours to cut. No law says there has to be a written policy.

Question 2, no, assuming you are a non-exempt employee, it is not legal to require you to work off the clock for no pay.
