Job Relocating - My Rights!

North Carolina

In 2000 I was hired in NC to work in the sales/corporate office of a manufacturing company whose production facility is located 45-50 miles north in Virginia.
I have never been obligated to work from this facility in VA, although my job has taken me there a few times (day trips) by choice. I am now being told my office will be closing and I will be expected to keep my 8-5 hours even though the travel will be 90-130 miles a day depending on where you begin calculating.

Do I have any rights regarding a request to leave the company and ask for a specific severance? I have heard of laws from other countries allowing specific severance allowances if a job has been moved a specific distance.

Please Help!! Thank you.

You can resign and you can even ask for a severence, but the employer is under no obligation under state or federal law to provide a severence package. What other countries do is irrelevant.
