Mandatory Pay Decrease/What to Change my Benefits

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey
Current company reduced our pay by 4%. I just had a change of life
status in July and prior to me knowing about the reduction I chose my
medical benefits based on my higher salary. Now with this reduction I
would like to have my benefits changed. I have asked HR about this but
have received no answer. Shouldn't I be allowed to change my medical
coverage if the company dictates this salary reduction?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

If your share of the premium for the health care comes out of your paycheck pre-tax, then Federal law limits the circumstances under which you can make changes to your plan. A pay decrease is NOT one of those circumstances.
