Paycheck delayWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida I started working for a company that has been around FOREVER. There's one on every corner! Pay periods are bi-weekly. I did not receive my first paycheck because HR said they did not receive my new hire package. they later said they "found" it. My first paycheck was received on the date that my 2nd paycheck was due (therefore, I did not receive a paycheck until 30 days after starting work), but my 2nd paycheck was not paid. It is one week later, and I still have not received my 2nd paycheck. In the mean time, my rent was late, my car insurance cancelled, I was not able to renew my state cosmetology license, and I had to get a pawn loan on my computer just to pay the rent. I've called the company's HR hot line twice, with no response, and my boss swears it will come in every day. Am I being violated??? |

| You mean is a LAW being violated. Florida has no laws mandating how long after the end of the pay period an employee must be paid. There is no federal law either, per se, except the federal DOL generally considers that if you are not paid at least monthly, you could file an unpaid wage claim. Having said that, though, it could take WEEKS for your claim to even get to the investigatory stage, and I can pretty much guarantee that you would be caught up by then. Keep trying the hot line. Every hour if you have to.
