Split Hours between two Stores? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arizona- I work for a local chain of stores, all of the stores are under the same corporation and central management department. Currently I was asked If I could cover an extra shift at another store, I agreed I could use the hours. This would put me making overtime, unfortunately my boss informed me that because it is the same pay-week but the overtime hours are at a 2nd store That I would not be getting overtime pay. Can she do that? I thought if you worked for the same company and over 40 in a week you got overtime pay and the location had nothing to do with it? ![]() |

| If this is the same employer, it's definitely not legal. Where the hours are worked is irrelevant. You can either make a stink about it now, or just work it then, when you don't get paid overtime premium, file a claim with the state DOL.
