Vacation Policy Form Should I sign?

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Wisconsin

I been with in my current position for 3 years. As a manger I also have several people reporting directly to me. When I was hired I negotiated that an additional week be added to my offer and irt was accepted (3 weeks instead of standard 2)

Another part to this is I have two recent hires which negotiated with us and were given an additional week as well (3 weeks instead of standard 2).

What concerns me is that the new vacaiton policy form we have been asked to sign contains wording that looks like we can have this negotiated week taken away SEE- <<THIS POLICY SUPERCEDES AND REPLACES ANY AND ALL POLICIES OR PRACTICES RELATED TO VACATION ISSUED OR IN PLACE PRIOR TO THE DATE THIS POLICY WAS ISSUED.>>

This 3 page policy has this clearly written on the top of each page. No where inside the policy does it say you are grandfathered protected with your current vacation package.

I have asked if this would change our vaction standing and verbally my supervisor stated we would keep it as we have in the past. The HR person who's requesting my department sign this form has also verbally stated that it will not affect our current standing and even emailed me with that statement.

I asked the HR contact if an a addendum with these words can be placed inside the policy form posibly on a case by case basis, and was flatly refused.

My question is two part-

What can my employer do if I refuse to sign?

Is an internal email enough to protect my vacation package if I sign?

Hope someone out there can give me advise-Thanks in advance!!

1.) Any disciplinary step they want, up to and including termination. I don't know that they WILL, but they CAN.

2.) Unknown, at least by me. Beth is in your state and may know how your state DOL has taken such things in the past. But the employer does have the right to change the terms of your employment, including reducing your vacation.

Is there some reason you do not trust your supervisor and the person in HR who have assured you that they do not mean to change your status, to keep their word?

Pack, you either trust your employer or you don't. It's just that simple.

They're not going to amend the vacation policy form that everyone's being requested to sign because they don't want all the other employees to know that a few employees may be receiving a more generous vacation benefit than they are. Trust me when I tell you that that's a can of worms your employer does not want to open. If they do, there will be a whole line of employees marching on HR or their supervisor's office demanding to know the particulars and complaining how they're getting screwed.

Sign the form and ask your manager if he'd put a note in your file to accompany it saying that you are still eligible for the third week of vacation that was agreed upon when you were hired.
