this is a serious question

Ok let say my grandfather has a large estate... and he would like to pass on a one million bucks to me in the year 2010...but is not in the mood to die until...uh...uh..well after 2010...

can he place an inheritance for me in a trust in the year 2010 and be exempt from paying any inheratance tax... if lets say he died in the year 2012

Can he open a dedicated inheritance trust in the year 2010 and either fund it upon his death or prior?

When does inheritance tax get figured...only in the year the money was given? in the year that it was trasferred into a trust? when the trust was funded? or only in the tax year of the death of the gift giver?

if you dont understand whats happing in 2010 (as current law is written) then more than likely you cannot answer this....
