What is the name of your state? kansas...mom has been writing checks to me for the past 3 years from a joint bank account she and I have. Also, some gov bonds with both our names on them were cashed for my use. She is maybe 2 years from a nursing home. I had assumed this would disqualify her for medicaid for awhile but now am not so sure. Does the fact that these are joint accounts and that the bond were in both our names make any difference?

YES she still is the 1/2 owner of them......

So you need to get them into your name only ASAP>

She can give you $11,000 a year without you declaring it as income,

Same with the house, NOTHING must have her name on it.
