NO WILL

What are the consequences of cleaning out house of a deceased parent without filing for admin of estate.

My mom recently passed away without a will. my sister doesn't want to go through any legal process. She just wants to clean house out and THAT's IT.

What are the repercussions? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Depends on whether the people "cleaning" agree, are the people with the rights to inherit the property and whether mom owed ANY debts.

If anyone has cause to object, you might be in legal trouble.

Don't know. There may be none. Then again, maybe a creditor will get a court order demanding that you return the steak knives and the veg-o-matic.

Seriously though... You need to describe a bit more about what the parent owned and what the parent owed.

If all you are talking about is normal, everyday personal property - some furniture, kitchenware, etc., etc. - as long as the intestate heirs aren't going to squabble about the property, it is unlikely that anybody else will care.
