What is the name of your state? Massachusetts

Short scenario - Father had many severe health problems last 2 years of life, and son took total care of father in son's home until he died - don't know if this matters. Father added son's name to a money market deposit checking acct.

Does anyone know after father died, having a money market Deposit checking account with 20k in, with son's name on it ( along with father's name,) and this is the only asset the father has. --does the son ask the bank to take his father's name off of the account after his death or what does he do?

Under the concept of right of survivorship, the money is now his--father's name is technically canceled off of the account. All he needs to do is to ask for a check to be issued to him.
