I live in Missouri. Is there a website that I can find out the status of my father's estate which is in Probate Court? I know the case number, and other pertinent information. I was told that the estate was settled on 12/13/01. Since I am the Personal Representative shouldn't I have been notified? My attorney told me some small amount in $.00's is holding it up when that was supposed to have been taken care of a month ago.

DEAR CMORA438:

If your father died in the same county where you live in Missouri, you should visit the county courthouse to look at the probate file, which will give you mostly a complete overview of how the estate's financial matters were handled.

If you can't visit the courthouse in person, then order copies of the file by mail.

Yes, you probably should have been notified about the estate since you are personal representative, but are you sure that all parties know your address and/or phone number and how to contact you?

That information is not generally available through a website since it is considered confidential.
