my aunt passed away,left her home in IL,to a church,she named gave power of attorney,to friends son,she has two niecesliving,she has money,and a safe deposit box,which has not been opened,how or what can these nices do to get their share of the money,and the contents of the safety box?

It sounds like she has a will. Items titled in aunt's sole name, including the box, will pass as provided by the will. Do you know who the executor is? If the will has been filed, you can get a copy of it from the county courthouse. Any Powers of Attorney are no longer valid as they terminate at death.
