Massachusetts...

on the deed it states: life estate with quitclaim covenants for me and my wife.. my wife passed away and now the grantee's (daughter and son in law) want me to pay some of the water bill. Also they have taken some rooms from me and installed their daughter and her boyfriend. the cost of the electricity and heat i am told is my responceability for their daughters use since the boiler is on my side of the house. this is a duplex home.. I think i am being taken advantage of.

So talk to a probate attorney or landlord/tenant law attorney to have the meaning of a life estate explained to you. Look at the will to see exactly what it states about the life estate and whether there are other provisions. Then decide if you wish to continue living there or moving out and living somewhere else.
