Could someone please explain the difference between a beneficiary/heir versus inheriting a share of the community property.

Is there a California law which stipulates the difference of the above (where is it documented) and how expenses associated with the distribution of the estate are allocated based on whether you are a benificiary/heir or inheriting a share of the community property.

Any specific reference to CALIFORNIA LAW or California cases would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help!
