What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

On a 1 million dollar estate ($700,000 real estate value, the rest in cash), aside from the probate fees, how much in taxes would the estate pay (roughly). The person who died was 96 years old (not sure if that is relevant).

Thanks,

For a $1 mllion estate, there should be no federal or state estate taxes due if the person passed away after 2003.

The estate would pay taxes on the income produced from the date of death until asset distribution.
