Here is some truth for you:....OR by all means lay out some truth for me ...
1) His mental stability needs to be documented by his physician.
2) The will has to be "airtight".
3) Everyone involved has to take extra care not to manipulate his thinking. If his intentions are as you suggest, make sure his attorney and witnesses are fully aware and documented. You can't leave this situation as a "he said/ she said" with the niece and nephew, otherwise there will be considerable legal expenses involved.
4) He should consider setting up a revocable trust for the quick dispensing of assets following death.
