my brother, age 56, died of natural causes saturday. he left only a derelict trailer and 2 acres of land. he obtained a loan against the property (previously paid for) but did not pay the note and received a lawsuit from the bank for non-payment. he has no will. i will pay for his cremation but desire no part of the land/trailer arrangement. where do i stand legally?

Are you somehow on the deed or loan? If had nothing to probate and that is all there is to it and the answer to those questions is no then let the bank have it. You are not reponsible for your brothers debts.
