What is the name of your state? California

My mother is deceased. She has a home improvement loan due upon her death. The loan is greater than her liquid assets. Are her 3 children responsible for the remainder and need to take a loan out to repay? We would like to keep the house to rent. Plus there are hospital, doctors bills. We are not having luck in having them waived or they will not negotiate. What happens to the amount not paid for the loan and bills?

Also, we must notify lender and insurance of her death. Does the notice need to be notarized in any case? Please advise asap. 90 days is soon approaching.

Thank you,
Whiskee
